Huawei founder calls himself an Apple fan, learns a lot from iPhone maker
Recently, Huawei Founder, Ren Zhengfei said that he sees Apple as a teacher and calls himself an Apple fan. The latest comment from the Huawei official comes amid the latest Huawei flagship fighting against the new iPhone.
Ren denied the latest trend in the industry and other tech fields. He mentioned not to carry “xenophobia” for any of the overseas companies or brands.
The 78-year industry veteran gave these new remarks during a live conversation at the Huawei-sponsored International Collegiate Programming Contest organized in China last month.
He expressed that Apple products are often found very good and there’s a clear difference between Apple and Huawei products. Moreover, Zhenfei concentrates on the positive side of Apple, by expressing that Apple as a teacher, give him a lot of opportunity to learn and compare Huawei’s own products’ performance.
“In that sense, it would not be an exaggeration to call me an Apple fan,” Zhenfei added.
Ren Zhenfei also referenced his younger daughter – Annabel Yao for using Apple products, as she lived (past) in the US for study. However, Yao is not in the Huawei business, unlike Meng Wanzhou who currently serving the company in multiple roles including rotating chairwoman.
Not the first time:
Huawei’s founder has been a long-time admirer of Apple and iPhone products. Also, he expresses his thoughts about the Cupertino-based tech giant openly.
In 2019, during an interview with CNBC, Founder Ren talked about Apple as a “great company” and the late founder, Steve Jobs a great man. In the same year, he also said that if China restricts Apple, he would also be on the list to oppose this action.
Amid regaining momentum in the smartphone business and launching new devices, the Huawei founder (as an Apple fan) remains humble in the company’s achievements.
