In the past month, we’ve spotted HarmonyOS running on various old devices and the latest addition to the series now includes Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, which was launched in 2015.

Recently, a Chinese video blogger uploaded a clip of a Microsoft Lumia 950 XL loading HarmonyOS kernel. The kernel is derived from an open-source OpenHarmony operating system library.

However, the video only shows the kernel part and can’t access the home screen or any graphical user interface. After loading, software services were debugged successfully.

Open Source HarmonyOS is called OpenHarmony and it’s managed by the OpenAtom foundation. With its capabilities, developers and third-party device makers can use HarmonyOS to build a new smart ecosystem.

Nokia 950 XL:

This phone is launched after Microsoft took over Nokia and the Windows maker failed to deliver the software user experience.

Talking about the device, Nokia Lumia 950 XL is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with 2 large and four small cores. It equips 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is upgradable. This phone comes with a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with WQHD resolution and is protected by gorilla glass 4.

You should know that the Lumia 950 XL brings a 20MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture and there’s 5MP front-facing camera system. Interestingly, it’s one of the first phones to bring 4G LTE.
