200X Binocular Zoom and 120Hz refresh rate to come with Huawei P50 Pro
With the launch of the Huawei P30 Pro, Huawei broke the barrier of zooming camera capabilities of the smartphones and moved two steps ahead of its competitors by introducing a new camera technology called Periscope Zoom.
Periscope Zoom allowed the phone to zoom in farther compared to a regular optical zoom lens. Therefore, the Huawei P30 Pro also became the first smartphone to provide 5X optical and 50X digital zoom. This new zoom lens provides power to the user to capture even the Moon.
With Huawei P40 Pro+, the Chinese tech giant improved the periscope camera to take images at a distance of 10X optical and 100X digital. While the company allied the same specs on its Mate 40 Pro+ flagship launched later in 2020.
200X Periscope Zoom:
Coming to 2021, Huawei is preparing to launch its first flagship of this year – the Huawei P50 series, and according to the previous launches, the company likely bring new camera capabilities along with this upcoming smartphone lineup.
New information coming for the Weibo, suggests that the top model of the Huawei P50 series will come with 20X optical and 200X digital zooming feature. The information suggests the 200X zoom as ‘Binocular Zoom’.
In such words, it feels absolutely mind-blowing because currently, there’s no smartphone that has this much zooming power.
Currently, there’s no official confirmation available about the information shared above. However, since we’re talking about Huawei, it doesn’t seem impossible for the company as it has already achieved so much in the smartphone camera technologies and continues to do unravel more through its R&Ds.
120Hz display:
Launched in 2020, Huawei P40 was the first Huawei flagship to feature a 90Hz refresh rate display, which increases the user experience while interacting with the software ecosystem of the smartphone. Later on, Huawei launched Mate 40 with the same refresh rate.
Huawei said both Huawei P40 and Mate 40 displays are capable of 120Hz refresh but they’ve limited the rate due to higher consumption of battery life.
Last December, Huawei launched its Nova 8 Pro, which comes with a stunning 6.7-inch OLED display + 80-degree curved edge design and it’s also the first Huawei smartphone to deliver a 120Hz refresh rate.
So featuring a 120Hz refresh rate on the Huawei P50 Pro models does make sense, while keeping the base variant at 90Hz.
We’ll keep you posted on this matter but don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments.
